The Best Rooftops in San Miguel de Allende

Bekeb Rooftop

Bekeb Rooftop

Rooftops are one of my absolute favorite things. I love sitting up there and enjoying a sunset or a good view more than anything. This is part of why I love San Miguel de Allende so much because the city is FULL of rooftops. So here is a list of my favorites, from one rooftop lover to another.

1. Bekeb

Bekeb is my absolute favorite spot in San Miguel de Allende. This is a rooftop restaurant that is part of a hotel (as are most restaurants in SMA). The whole hotel has beautiful design with great places for photos and comfy areas to relax. On the weekends, they have a DJ play each night to set the vibe. The cocktails are delicious and have very creative presentation, and the food is equally delicious. I recommend coming here for sunset and staying for dinner after. It sometimes gets chilly in San Miguel de Allende after the sun goes down, but they have heaters and blankets for you to use. During the day, they also allow non-hotel guests to use the pool that is on the rooftop from 2-5pm.
*Note that they’re only open Thursday-Sunday.

2. Anonimo

Anonimo rooftop has one of the best views in town. It’s located on the top of the Selina Hotel and is one of the highest rooftops in SMA. Seeing sunset from here is an absolute must. They also have delicious food and cocktails. I recommend getting the roasted cauliflower.

3. Olivia Bar at Casa No Name

Casa No Name is a hidden gem. It’s a tiny, cute hotel on a small street. The bar on the roof has amazing interior design and makes you feel like you are in Bali. They have chairs where you can lounge and a fireplace where you can gather with friends at night. This one doesn’t have a view, but the ambiance of the rooftop itself is so relaxing. They also make great cocktails (and mocktails) and have 2X1 happy hour Monday-Thursday. Since they only have a small snack menu for food, I recommend coming here just for drinks one afternoon or to have an appetizer before going to dinner somewhere else. I also often go here to relax and read a good book on sunny days. This is my happy place.

4. Atrio

Atrio’s view is absolutely stunning next to the cathedral in the main square. Everything I had to eat here was incredible. Definitely go for dinner, but make sure you make a reservation in advance because they are typically full. This is a must do if you love food and views.

5. Luna Rooftop at Rosewood

Luna Rooftop has an incredible view of all of San Miguel de Allende since it’s on the edge of town. I recommend going here for lunch on a sunny day, so you can take it all in. Drinks are good, and food is good, but the best thing here is definitely the view. I went here for lunch when I first got to SMA, and looking out at how beautiful the town was made me fall in love. Rosewood is one of the nicest hotels in San Miguel de Allende, so also take some time to walk around and check it out before you leave. There are lots of great areas for photos. If you go all the way downstairs under the hotel, they have an art gallery that is nice as well.

6. Momma

Momma is a beautiful restaurant with great design. Their rooftop is small and quaint with a big tree growing in the center. This one doesn’t overlook the whole city, but you can see the sun set over the mountains in one direction, and you can see the cathedral in the other direction. What blew me away about this rooftop was not only the design, but the food and service. The food here is AMAZING, and the service makes you feel like you’re at a fine dining restaurant. They also had some of the best heaters of anywhere I’ve seen and some soft blankets for when it got chilly after the sun went down. Definitely add this rooftop to your list for dinner.

7. Trazo 1810

Trazo 1810 is on top of an absolutely gorgeous hotel. To enter, you walk through an art gallery, so give yourself some extra time to spend checking out the art before going up to the rooftop. The roof is multiple levels, so you can choose wherever you want to be for either a more private area or more vibrant around other tables. The upper deck is good for catching sunset as it goes behind the church. Their drinks and food are great as well.

8. Fatima 7 at Casa Blanca

Fatima 7 is on top of the Casa Blanca hotel. If you are in town for New Year’s Eve, I highly recommend reserving dinner here. It has a perfect view of the fireworks that go off over the cathedral at midnight. The food is great, and the service is, too. For NYE, they also had a DJ to get you dancing. Even if you’re not here for New Year’s Eve, I still recommend going to this rooftop for a nice dinner with a beautiful view of the square and cathedral.
